Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Orbio mobile game ("the app", "we") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We designed Orbio to work without accounts, sign-ups, or personal profiles: you can play without ever telling us who you are.
Information we collect
- Nickname and skin choice. You may pick a display nickname inside the app. It is stored on your device, and is shared with other players only when you join an online match or submit a daily leaderboard score. Nicknames are free-form and are not linked to your real identity.
- Anonymous player ID. When you play online, Firebase Authentication assigns your device a random anonymous identifier. It contains no personal details and is used only to run multiplayer rooms and leaderboards.
- Gameplay data in online matches. While you are in a multiplayer room, your inputs and your orb's position are exchanged in real time with the other players in that room, then discarded. Daily leaderboard entries (nickname, score, timestamp) are retained so the day's rankings can be shown.
- Advertising data. The app shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and coarse device information to serve and measure ads. See How Google uses advertising data.
- Purchase state. In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details; the app only records which products you own so it can unlock them.
- Game progress. Your level, XP, achievements, settings, streaks, personal-best scores, and match history are stored on your device. Deleting the app removes the local copy.
- Cloud backup of progress. When you are online, a copy of your progression (level, XP, achievements, streaks, and personal-best scores), your coin balance, and the cosmetic items you own is backed up to Firebase under your anonymous player ID, so your progress can be restored on a new device. This backup contains no personal identity. Contact us with your in-game nickname to have a backup removed.
- Usage analytics and crash reports. We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app usage (such as when a match starts or ends) and to diagnose crashes. These reports do not include your nickname, precise location, or any way to identify you personally beyond the anonymous player ID above.
What we do NOT collect
- No name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
- No precise location.
- No photos, microphone, or camera access.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs beyond the advertising and Firebase analytics/crash-reporting described above.
Advertising and consent
Free players see an occasional interstitial ad between matches and may choose to watch rewarded ads for in-game perks. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the app shows a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) before any ad is requested, and you can decline personalized advertising. On iOS, personalized ads are only enabled if you allow tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Purchasing Pro or Remove Ads disables interstitial advertising entirely.
Third-party services
- Google AdMob — advertising (privacy policy)
- Google Firebase — anonymous authentication, realtime multiplayer, cloud save of game progress, hosting, usage analytics, and crash reporting (privacy and security)
- Apple App Store / Google Play — payments and purchase restoration
Data retention
Multiplayer room data is transient and removed when rooms end or players disconnect. Daily leaderboard entries are kept per calendar day to display rankings. Your cloud progress backup is retained under your anonymous player ID until you request its removal or the anonymous account is deleted. Anonymous authentication records and advertising data are retained according to Google's policies linked above. Everything else lives on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app.
Children
Orbio does not require or knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no chat, no account system, and no free-text sharing other than a self-chosen nickname. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing (for example under the GDPR or CCPA). Because the app holds no account tied to you, most data can be removed simply by uninstalling the app and resetting your device's advertising identifier. For anything else — such as removing a leaderboard entry — contact us and include your in-game nickname.
Security
Online features run on Google Firebase with access rules that restrict every player to their own data. Communication with our services uses encrypted connections (TLS).
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app's store listing notes.
